We have a name

I think when you are pregnant choosing the name is the most important part of it. Your child is going to be saddled with it for the rest of their life, unless they decide to take the steps to change it, and believe me, over the years, I've seen some names I would change if my mom had given them to me.

A few weeks ago, I even wrote a column about bad baby names, and the rules I would make if I were Queen Baby Namer of the World. Here's a link in case anyone is interested.

We've been discussing names since we got the second line on the pregnancy test. In fact, we were even discussing names before we ever got pregnant. To me, being able to give another person their name is a huge honor.

So, we had a list of names we were considering for girls this time. The ones we both liked were Ella, Emily, Elizabeth, Sophia, Colleen and Caroline. I loved the name Norah, but he didn't. He loved the name Julianna, but I didn't. So, both of those were vetoed right away.

We made a list of our favorites, and in my head, I tried them all out. My favorite by far is Ella. I just can't see me calling her by any other name. Brian loves it, too. So, for right now (and I'm pretty sure forever), her name is Ella. Now, we just have to decide on a middle name.

I love it! I've tried it out on Eleanor (along with Ellie, Elle...) a couple of times. I think we're going to stick with Eleanor, but she definitely has a few nicknames.

I love it, too. I know you live in Tennessee so my most important question is "are you a vols fan?" because I'm a Georgia alum...we have to work out all these details before Cooper and Ella walk down the aisle...even, if you are I'll bring Ella over to my side :)

By the way, Beth you could go Ella or Nora. You're lucky! You've got the best combo!

Ella is beautiful! How about Amber as the second name? Or Eloise? LOL! ( I changed my names y-e-a-r-s ago because most of the family had the same name - that's why I hate tradition) :)

I love the name Ella (although I'm partial to Sophia since my daughter's name is Sophie).

How about the middle name Elizabeth? I like the way it sounds....Ella Elizabeth!

I agree with Meg...I think Ella is perfect with Tessa and Jenna! What about something that symbolizes August for her middle name...like the birthstone or flower, etc.

BTW, I'm Emily and my daughter is Caroline, so I was biased to a few names on your list!!

Sorry to leave two comments! But, what about Jane? I looked up the meaning of Jenna on behindthename.com, and it says that it's a variant of Jenny. So, I looked up Jenny, and it's originally a diminutive of Jane.
