Christmas Pictures

For Christmas, we are going to have a picture taken of all the grandchildren to give to my parents.

While we are doing this, Brian, Tessa and I are also going to have a family picture taken as it's been three years since we've done so. I want to include Jenna in these pictures, but I haven't figured out how to do so.

I asked on for ideas, and the ladies there (who are always wonderful) gave me some great ideas. I thought at first about placing her urn in the photograph, but I'm afraid that will be too morbid and no one will like it.

Someone suggested that we somehow use a dragonfly because that is my symbol for Jenna. I think that's a great idea, and I'm going to look into getting some for all the kids to wear.

Another person suggested an ultrasound picture, and I like that idea, too. I don't know if anyone will go for it or not.

The thing is, she existed. She's our child, a part of this family, and I don't want anyone to forget about her. I want to find a way to honor her memory and include her in these photographs. Does anyone else have a suggestion?

I have a suggestion. When I lost Chloe, a co-worker of mine gave me a small gold pin in the shape of footprints. I wore it for a long time, over my heart, since Chloe forever left footprints on my heart. I think you could google and find the pins. They are very small but meaningful.

I think that would be a subtle way to remember Jenna. I wouldn't use the urn, it might be too sad for a family photo.

Here is a link for the footprint pin:

What about a piece of jewelry with her initials on it? It would be a way to include her for the photo and it would be something you can always wear when you want to feel especially close to Jenna.

Will they be casual photos? If they are taken in your home, what about having her urn or ultrasound picture on a table or shelf behind you? Keep it in the frame, but not a focal point of the shot.

I think the footprint pin or a dragonfly is a great idea. I've been thinking about something like that for our Christmas picture. I'd love to hear what you come up with.

You could make a ribbon (like an awareness ribbon) and put a picture of her or your dragonfly pins or something with it. I have a picture of DH and I with my ribbon on it and it very clearly shows the "three" of us. Whatever you decide to do will be special, and I think it is a GREAT idea to make sure she is in your family picture.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately too! We haven't had pictures done since Aiden was 1...he just turned 4!

I obviously have my necklace, but I wanted something a little more. I thought about getting out Cameron's little Giraffe that Aiden bought him and bringing that along for the pictures :)

I have heard of others buying an angel "hole-punch" and putting and angel on the corner of each card. Maybe you could even find a dragonfly one. :)

Have you seen those people in malls who paint your name in cool things, like an umbrella for a "T"? they usually use really bright colors too.

You could have Jenna's name done, (Mabye the J can look like a dragon fly? ) then have it framed and someone could hold it in the picture. This way she would be in the picture in an obvious way but, it hopefully wouldn't be uncomfortable for anyone?

Just a thought
